You Don’t Have To Attend The Negative Party You Were Invited To

Kelly Clarkson said her last words on The Kelly Clarkson Show after seven seasons, amid a full hour of Kellyoke, her kids, and gratitude.

Clarkson opened her final show by saying it was a “bittersweet” day as an era came to a close. However, in true style of her syndicated talk show, the singer took to the mic with her rendition of “Golden,” the Oscar-winning song from KPop Demon Hunters.

Before the final credits rolled on screen, Clarkson did her last edition of “What I’m Liking,” which she dedicated to her kids River and Remy. The talk show host reminded viewers that a big reason she did the show was the stability and schedule, adding, “And they’re also a big reason it’s time to say goodbye.”

“I’m such a proud mama. They’re the greatest kids in the world,” Clarkson said.

Clarkson noted that when the show started, Rivera was in kindergarten, and she’s now about to enter middle school, while her son Remy had his singing debut on the talk show. Her kids were in the stands, and Clarkson asked what their favorite moments were.

“I liked talking to Jason Momoa and singing with the band,” Remy said.

River’s response moved Clarkson to tears when she said, “I liked watching you shine every single day.”

“That’s so sweet,” Clarkson said after trying to hold back the tears. “Okay, you got me. You just opened me on my own show.”

Clarkson asked her kids to come up to the stage with her, where she continued to thank “everyone on our staff and crew, my band, the viewers, and every single guest teacher that was on the show.”

“For seven years, I’ve ended each episode by saying, ‘Have a great day, and if it’s not, change it.’ I say that because while we have to accept that life is totally out of our control, each moment, though, truly depends on how we choose to respond or react to it,” she said. “You don’t have to attend the negative party you were invited to, I’ve been told by a therapist, so there you go.”

She continued, “And if you remind yourself once a day that you have that choice, you know to respond how you really want to be and who you really are inside, I promise that habit is going to become a part of you, and your life will respond to you in return.”

Following the insightful message, Clarkson expressed that she “loved being in your homes each day,” adding, “I’ve loved seeing my kiddos grow up on this show as well. I have immeasurable gratitude for everybody, the crew, the band, everybody here, the audience of years. Thank you so much. It’s been an incredible opportunity. Thank you for connecting with us one last time from this chapter.”

As the credits rolled on the screen and with her kids by her side, Clarkson closed her final show, saying, “Before we turn the page, have a great day, and if it’s not, change it.”
