EXCLUSIVE: Your Honor producer yes Studios has struck its latest international deal for Significant Other, the hit Israeli TV show that became a UK series starring Katherine Parkinson.
Babylone Hills Productions and Screenline Productions (Culte) will adapt Significant Other in France. The comedy drama follows two lonely neighbors in their late 40s – a single woman and a newly divorced man – whose paths cross on the night that he decides to commit suicide by swallowing medication and she has a heart attack. Their relationship begins as they are taken to hospital together in an ambulance.
In 2022, Yes Studios sold the show to ITV, which was produced by Nicola Shindler and starred Rivals star Parkinson and Youssef Kerkour. Created by Dana Modan, Assi Cohen and Ram Nehari, the original aired for two seasons on yes TV and won several Israeli Academy TV Awards.
Meanwhile, yes Studios has sold two shows to Germany, Bloody Murray and Who Died?. Bloody Murray focuses on the relationship and struggles between two roommates while Who Died? is a touching romantic comedy set in an oncology department. The former will be remade by Hager Moss Films and the latter by Banijay’s Tatort label MadeFor Film.
The shows don’t have networks or streamers attached as of yet.
Yes Studios boss Sharon Levi said: “Yes Studios has a growing slate of brilliant homegrown comedies, and I am delighted that they are starting to gain traction with international producers and broadcasters. Each of these three titles is funny of course, but it’s the nuanced characters, the universal situations they find themselves in that is attracting attention and demonstrating their readiness for adaptation.”
Yes Studios has been selling more shows internationally of late. Your Honor, which was remade in the U.S. several years ago with Bryan Cranston, is on an international roll and was recently crowned the joint-top-selling scriped format of the decade.
