President Donald Trump may own a golf resort in County Clare, Ireland but that does not mean he owns the room.

Comedian Rosie O’Donnell has again seized the chance to challenge the man she has publicly battled for nearly two decades.

She made it clear that the president should not expect shamrocks, warm hugs or a pot of gold when he arrives in Ireland. And she was right.

The president’s arrival drew fierce opposition. Irish authorities are mounting an enormous security operation as Protesters filled Dublin’s streets.

O’Donnell promoted the “No Welcome for Warmonger Trump!” protest scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 12, at 1 p.m.

Demonstrators assembled at the Garden of Remembrance in Parnell Square, Dublin, after the comedian’s PSA telling everyone to head to O’Connell Street at 1 p.m.

In an Instagram video, she blasted Trump’s appearance at the Republican National Committee (RNC) midterm convention in Dallas. Instead, she called it “the Republican Desperation Convention,” claiming it “was relatively empty.”

“They kept saying there were thousands of people outside and that it was filled to the rim,” O’Donnell said. “Then the cameraman pulled back, and you see all the empty seats.”

Her message was simple: ignore the political spin and believe what the camera captured.

“People, use your eyes,” she said. “Use your eyes. That’s all I want to say.”

Protesters marched from the memorial down O’Connell Street toward Government Buildings and the Dáil. Allegedly, 25,000 people or fewer showed up with warning signs and messages that read “F—k Trump” or mentioned the Epstein files.

One protester told the Irish Times, “When [Barack] Obama was here in 2011, 50,000 came out to College Green to hear him. With Trump, the only people on the streets are here to oppose him.”

Social media users had mixed feelings about seeing floats of the POTUS being attacked.

“Absolutely brilliant!! Scream for me, goyim!! Wonder how Trump’s monumental ego is handling this “outrageous behavior?!!”

Another said, “This is inappropriate, even if I don’t like the politicians involved.”

“He’s hated globally Fantastic! Hats off to Ireland,” added another social media user.

A coalition of political and advocacy groups is backing the demonstration, including the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign.

The action won’t stop in Dublin. Demonstrations are also planned near Shannon Airport and in Doonbeg on Saturday and Sunday.

The “A League of Their Own” star encouraged supporters to make it a family affair to “stand up for decency.”

“I just can’t wait until this horrible part of American history is over and we have righteousness and decency restored,” she added.

According to the BBC, Trump is expected to meet with Irish President Catherine Connolly and Taoiseach Micheál Martin. He also plans to attend the Irish Open at his Doonbeg golf resort.

An Garda Síochána has announced traffic restrictions around Dublin. Officials are warning of disruptions throughout the city center. In other words, Trump’s arrival may bring motorcades, barricades and a public reminder that not everyone is waiting to kiss his ring.

O’Donnell used her video to unload on Trump’s administration, Republican leaders and the current state of the United States. She accused the president of dishonesty in office.

“I don’t know how long the country can survive with this man lying, cheating, stealing, doing whatever the hell he wants, and no one putting up any real resistance,” she said. She added that Americans are exhausted: “They’re sick of it.”

Many of her 1.4 million followers backed her. “So over it Rosie ! Ireland give him [grief]!!!!!” one wrote.

The former “The View” moderator moved to Ireland with her youngest child in January 2025, shortly before Trump returned to the White House. She said she’d consider returning when America was safe and all citizens had equal rights.

An ocean between them did little to quiet the feud.

Their battle began in 2006 after O’Donnell criticized Trump on “The View” over his handling of a Miss USA controversy. Trump responded with a parade of personal insults. The feud followed him through his political career. It even surfaced during the 2016 presidential debate.

Trump escalated the feud in July 2026 by threatening to revoke O’Donnell’s U.S. citizenship. Legal experts noted a president cannot strip citizenship from a natural-born American simply for hurting his feelings.

O’Donnell later mocked Trump during interviews, social media posts, and her stint as guest host on “Jimmy Kimmel Live. She accused him of using their feud to distract from more serious issues. She has also said his attacks unexpectedly made her “re-famous.”

Now Trump is entering the country O’Donnell calls home. It won’t be the welcome he expects. She has aligned with fellow anti-Trumpers, ready to roll out something other than a red carpet.

“I know the people of Ireland are over him, too,” she said.

Trump may finally get the Irish welcome O’Donnell believes he deserves. After nearly 20 years of insults and political sparring, she’s about to show him there’s no pot of gold waiting.
