TikTok rapper Phoenix JD has revealed that his musical talent runs in the family, as he’s the son of an iconic 90s boyband star.

The social media star gave his famous dad a roasting in one of his recent videos, declaring his music was ‘s**t’.

Phoenix shared his famous heritage in a new TikTok video this week, after heading backstage at one of his dad’s gigs.

The clip revealed that his dad is none other than James ‘Spike’ Dawbarn, from the legendary band 911.

In the video, Phoenix poked fun at Spike’s music as he rehearsed with bandmates Lee Brennan, 52, and Jimmy Constable, 54, to support Blue on their tour.

He said: ‘There’s their little soundcheck. I don’t know why they need to do a soundcheck, still sound s**t!

‘But yeah, and then this is them on stage. There’s me dad on the right.’

Poking fun at Spike, he said: ‘Thankfully, I don’t get my musical ability from him, you know, I’ve got a bit about me.

‘I hope he doesn’t see this now. He’ll kill me.

‘But hey, this is him at 51 still trying to do back flips – and nearly decked it. I would’ve flipping loved it if he decked it.’

Luckily Spike saw the funny side of his son’s critiques, simply writing the word ‘G*T’ in the comments.

Fans shared their delight at seeing the identity of Phoenix’s famous father, writing in the comments: ‘Oi your dad was a legend to us fossils!!’; ‘Lmfao! The way your roasting your dad! I’ll have you know 14-year-old me loved your dad’s band!’

Another wrote: ‘I was obsessed with 911 still love them now! You’ve got your dad’s humour!’

Spike found fame as a member of 911 back in the 1990s, after the band formed when Jimmy met the performer while working on the show The Hitman and Her.

The trio sold out arenas thanks to their hits like Bodyshakin’ and A Little Bit More.

Lee previously shared that his time with 911 was ‘a whirlwind of planes, hotels, gigs, press conferences’, while detailing the band’s gruelling working hours.

He told The Guardian: ‘We were so tired and we didn’t have a minute to think,’ before sharing that he found the attention from fans difficult to handle.

The band split in 2000 and Jimmy was tasked with announcing the news in a live radio interview on the Chris Moyles Show on Radio 1 in 2000.

Speaking in an interview with the Guardian in 2005, Jimmy revealed the impact it had on him. ‘I didn’t have any time to get my head around it,’ he said.

‘I had a lump in my throat saying it, then we came out of Radio 1 and the other two guys went to the pub. I got in my car and took off and I never saw them for two years.’

After the band split, Jimmy turned to drink and drugs, facing an addiction battle that eventually led to an appearance on the Jeremy Kyle show in 2013.

After their split, 911 have reunited for several gigs in recent years.

In 2023, the group collaborated with Vietnamese singer Đức Phúc for a bilingual version of I Do in English and Vietnamese, which reached No1 on the Billboard Top 100 in Vietnam.

They had several top 10 hits including Bodyshakin’, Private Number and All I Want Is You.
