Sir Tom Jones shocked himself and his fellow coaches on The Voice after sharing a lesson on ‘sex education’ during Saturday’s episode of the show.

The stars on the show couldn’t contain their laughter when Tom, 86, explained to his American co-stars what the word ‘fanny’ meant in British slang.

It came after Will.i.am told Danny Jones that his rap name would be ‘Danny Fanny’ and Kelly Rowland chimed in that he could rap about it.

However, Sir Tom quickly jumped in to reveal the alternate meaning of the word in the UK, telling them: ‘Kelly, over here, only women have fannies. It’s a vagina!’

The group broke into fits of laughter and even Tom covered his mouth after he realised what he had said while filming.

Host Emma Willis also looked notably shocked as she also covered her face.

Kelly then joked: ‘Y’all did not expect a sex ed conversation!’.

Viewers at home lauded the ‘brilliant’ moment and admitted they had replayed it several times, sharing their thoughts online.

They said: ‘Sir Tom is just the best! Thinking to myself he can’t say it, he can’t say it… then he did!’; ‘Love Sir Tom!’; ‘I have replayed this so many times. It is hilarious’; ‘Lol Danny Fanny’; ‘Sir Tom is an international treasure’;

‘The funniest thing ever’; ‘Sir Tom is the best’; ‘This episode is brilliant’; ‘I know I was saying the exact same thing out loud and then… he said it! He was like a teacher explaining the meaning of fanny, absolutely priceless’.

Others said the moment highlighted what a shame it is that Tom won’t be returning to the show in the next series after he was axed this week.

They said: ‘Sadly he’s since been sacked from The Voice’; ‘Can guarantee you are going to lose a lot of viewers, The Voice without Tom and Will wouldn’t work!’; ‘So why have you got rid of him?’; ‘So iconic that you dropped him from the show…’; ‘So iconic you stab him in the back?’; ‘Don’t sack him then’; ‘Bring him back right now!’.

After the episode aired on Saturday, viewers also shared their thoughts on Sir Tom’s shock sacking, to make way for Cheryl and Aitch.

After the announcement, Sir Tom hit out at ITV and claimed he was axed ‘last-minute’ after 13 years on the judging panel.

Stacey Solomon and Alesha Dixon are set to replace Emma Willis as hosts on The Voice UK, after she landed the coveted role as a presenter on Strictly Come Dancing.

And as the current series, starring Tom, aired, viewers hit out on X as they asked: ‘Why are they getting rid of Tom Jones?’

They wrote: ‘Can’t believe they’ve sacked the legend Tom Jones and replaced him with Stacey Solomon. What does she know about musical talent? About mentoring a singer? ITV are making a mockery of #thevoice’

‘Why the f**k are they getting rid of Tom Jones on The Voice again?? He’s the only one who actually knows how to sing out of the judges.’

To many, the episode served as confirmation that the broadcaster is making a huge mistake by axing Sir Tom – including OneCrispyGraham, who described the situation as an ‘abysmal travesty’, and miracles222 who called it a ‘huge loss’ for ITV.

Said Tom_Muzzy_2001: ‘ITV will regret sacking Tom Jones,’ vowing to stop watching the show should it follow through with plans to bring Stacey Solomon on in a shake-up to the show’s cast.

In what is described as a ‘revamp’ to the series, ITV confirmed that they would be bringing on rapper Aitch as a coach, alongside former Girls Aloud star Cheryl.

They’ll be replacing Danny and Tom, who are both leaving, and Sir Tom, following news of his sacking.

Releasing a statement on social media this month, Sir Tom wrote: ‘To be clear, I did not want to leave The Voice as I love the show and really appreciate the audience.’

He went on to explain that he had been offered a ‘much reduced’ role, but wouldn’t get his own chair, nor be involved for the whole show.

‘I’m not thrilled about that,’ he wrote. ‘So the only thing I know right now is that there’s never a good time to fire an 86-year-old who’s still pretty good at his job.’

A source told Metro: ‘ITV absolutely love Sir Tom and they’re working very hard behind the scenes to make this work.’

Meanwhile, another source added: ‘Everyone loves Sir Tom but there was a feeling that the upcoming series needed a major refresh.’

‘With Aitch and Cheryl coming on board and Kelly returning with will.i.am, there just wasn’t a seat going,’ the source added.

Filming for the newest series has already begun in Manchester on Friday, and is expected to air next year.
