TOMBALL, Texas — A shelter-in-place order has been lifted in the Tomball area after a major gas leak was capped off near a school, according to local officials.
The shelter-in-place order was lifted around 2:45 p.m.
The Tomball Police Department said a main gas line was hit near Westlake Run Boulevard and Shaw Road, prompting an emergency response.
Schools, daycare centers told to shelter in place
Officials say Wildwood Elementary School and nearby daycare centers were placed under a shelter-in-place order as a precaution. Parents were allowed to pick up kids, but they weren’t letting kids outside for recess.
People in the neighborhood could leave, but they couldn’t get back into the area. The Tomball Professional Firefighters Association said the order also applied to nearby residents.
