Shania Twain revealed that she became ‘malnourished’ after resorting to ‘unhealthy’ weight loss tactics during menopause.

The 60-year-old singer, who recently opened for Harry Styles in skimpy hotpants, got candid about the topic during an interview with The Times published on Saturday.

The You’re Still The One hitmaker recalled a time back in 2019 during her Let’s Go! Las Vegas residency where she ‘hated’ her body and was unable to look at her reflection in the mirror.

‘I stopped looking at myself in the mirror. I hated my body,’ Twain admitted to the outlet.

‘I’m, like, “Oh, I cannot stand this changing body.” But that was so unhealthy. Who cannot look at themselves in the mirror?’

The performer explained that she started to see changes with her body which she felt she had no ‘control’ over.

‘So all of a sudden I’m bloating, and I’m definitely not in control. I can’t just lose five pounds.’

Twain added that she started to do ‘very unhealthy things’ in order to achieve weight loss.

‘And I was working my body more than I was feeding it to keep up with the strain,’ the singer further expressed.

The star became ‘malnourished’ and also sustained a thigh injury on stage during her Las Vegas residency at the time.

However, Twain has since taken on a positive mindset when it comes to menopause and aging.

‘Now I’m like, bring on the mirrors, I’m going to look at myself all day long!’ she shared before later adding that, ‘Menopause has been very good for me because I’ve learned that some things you cannot control.’

The music artist has previously talked about her changing views on aging, such as during a conversation on the Today show in 2023.

‘I wake up everyday, in the last few years, really feeling a freedom I’ve never felt before. And that is coming with acceptance that I cannot slow the process of aging.’

She added, ‘That is out of my control. So, I need to start enjoying aging. And enjoying all that comes with that.’

The songstress gushed that she ‘feels great in my own skin’ and ‘can look in the mirror with the lights on.

‘I’m so loving that experience. So, that is one example of freedom, feeling liberated. I really don’t mind! I walk around my bathroom, the lights on…

‘I don’t know. I feel good about facing that kind of fear that I’ve had I think all of my life when I really think about it,’ Twain continued.

And back in 2024, she also reflected on her menopause weight gain while talking to The Mirror.

‘I’m just feeling grateful that I have my health, that I can ride horses. I enjoy being active, being physical,’ the Any Man Of Mine singer said before sharing that she is ‘well into the menopause.’

The star admitted that when she was younger, she had put a lot of focus in how she looks.

‘When I started to realize I had been missing out on whatever I am, I knew it was time to make a major change.’

She added, 'That is out of my control. So, I need to start enjoying aging. And enjoying all that comes with that'; Twain seen in 1999 in L.A.

Twain stated that she ‘no longer feels inhibited by my body, by those silly things.’

That same year, she told The Sun, ‘A lot of people as they start aging – and even young people – they don’t want to look at themselves in the mirror naked, and I think that is such a shame.

‘Every month or day that I may notice another sag or another bit of cellulite, I want to know it’s there.’

She also shared at the time that she did not plan to undergo cosmetic procedures to reverse aging.

‘I can’t change it and I don’t plan on changing it superficially. The surgery on my larynx [in 2018] was necessary for my wellbeing.’

Twain continued, ‘A surgery that is not necessary for my wellbeing is removing my cellulite. What is necessary is knowing that it is there and not hating myself for it.

‘I have to take myself on the stage without feeling like I have to cover myself up. I want to feel liberated.’

Twain has been keeping busy and recently hosted the 61st Academy of Country Music Awards last month in May.

The songstress will continue to hit the stage at the iconic venue in London on select dates through July 4.

Twain took to the stage on Friday and turned heads wearing a pair of black hotpants and a fitted corset top.

She additionally slipped into a pair of knee-high black boots and also donned sheer black gloves as well as flashy jewelry for the big moment.
