A RUTHLESS hitman who executed an Albanian businessman in a holiday hotspot as part of a £1 million blood feud has been jailed for life.
Ruben Saraiva was disguised as a delivery driver when he gunned down Ardian Nikulaj at a five-star hotel resort in Albania.
The killer, who grew up in Reading, Berkshire, shot Ardian seven times during the assassination in April 2023.
Saraiva, who had flown from London to Albania two months prior, was allegedly hired to carry out the hit – said to have been organised in the UK.
Appearing at court in the Balkan country, Portuguese national Saraiva was told he would spend the rest of his life in a high security prison.
He was found guilty of premeditated murder in collaboration with others and illegal possession of weapons.
Local politician Ardian, 51, had settled down at a table at a beachfront bar that he owned in the seaside resort of Shengjin.
Seconds after taking a call on his mobile phone he glanced up to see what appeared to be a motorbike courier entering the bar.
As the man, who was disguised with a surgical mask, approached Ardian’s table he reached into his right trouser pocket and took out a handgun.
Stepping closer to Ardian with each shot, he fired off seven rounds, each one hitting the helpless businessman who slumped dead in his chair.
The gunman fled the bar and ran to his waiting motorbike, which he had parked nearby with the engine idling.
The assassin drove south to the Greek border, crossed over, and, according to police, fled to Morocco to lie low.
