A$AP, whose full name is Rakim Athelaston Mayers, completed his evening ensemble by wearing a pair of dazzling earrings and a pair of sunglasses.
He was in good spirits as he took to the stage during the festival to receive the inaugural Tribeca X Filmmaker of the Year Award.
It comes after A$AP gave new insights into how he and Rihanna are raising their three kids, and how they’re coping following the traumatic aftermath of a shooting at their Beverly Hills, California home earlier this year.
‘It was f***ed up … somebody attempted at [harming] me and my family,’ A$AP told Vibe of the March 8 incident in a wide-ranging interview.
The Praise the Lord (Da Shine) artist, who is father to sons RZA, four, and Riot, two, and daughter Rocki, eight months, with Rihanna said the shooting – in which the suspect used an AR-15-style rifle – left the family rattled.
‘It took away a lot of peace and happiness of being able to just be free,’ said the rapper, who had been in an Airstream trailer on the property at the time of the incident. ‘I don’t want to be robbed of my peace and joy.’
The suspect in the shooting, Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, 35, faces multiple charges in connection with the incident, including attempted murder.
She pleaded not guilty to all of the charges against her in a March 25 hearing in Los Angeles Superior Court. Ortiz, who faces life in prison if convicted, remains in custody on $1.875 million bail.

A$AP also opened up in the interview about the mentality he brings to parenting.
He said he focuses on ‘being emotionally present, emotionally available, receptive, still endearing, but not only that, loving’ for his children with Rihanna.
The music artist said that he and Rihanna did not grow up in immense wealth, and he wanted to make sure their children were ‘humble’ so they were not ‘considered nepo babies’ as they age.
‘I want to make sure that I teach my boys discipline and keep them grounded, keep them humble as much as possible,’ he said. ‘I got to make sure they chill with their cousins, the rough cousins that’s going keep them on their toes.’
A$AP Rocky said that welcoming their daughter last fall was a memorable experience.
‘It was just so exciting because you just don’t know what to prepare for,’ he said. ‘You don’t know what’s to come, so the second and third time was really similar to the first experience.’
He said that at the time he and Rihanna had their third child – who accompanied her famed mom on a photo shoot earlier this year – they were in good spirits.
‘We were laughing while she was in labor, literally laughing and cracking jokes and s***,’ A$AP Rocky said.
In the wake of the shooting, The Grammy-winning Umbrella singer was experiencing multiple emotions, insiders told People.
‘Rihanna heard the shots, but was initially confused about what happened,’ a source said. ‘She doesn’t understand why someone would target her family.’
The source noted that ‘even with a great security team in place, it’s scary to realize that something like this can still happen.’
A separate insider told the outlet that Rihanna had been ‘freaking the f out’ after the potentially-deadly incident.
Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman announced March 10 that Ortiz was charged with one count of attempted murder, 10 counts of assault with a semi-automatic firearm and three counts of shooting into an inhabited dwelling or camper.

According to Hochman, Ortiz was charged with three counts of shooting into an inhabited dwelling because Rihanna’s property includes two dwellings, while Ortiz allegedly also shot at a neighbor’s home.
The 10 counts of assault were for each person allegedly in the line of fire from Ortiz, prosecutors said.
Prosecutors said Rihanna, Rocky, their three children and her mother had been on her property at the time of the shooting, along with two staff members. Two other individuals were also in the neighboring residence that Ortiz allegedly fired on.
Although no one was injured in the shooting, a law enforcement official told the Los Angeles Times that Rihanna and Rocky ‘easily could have been hit.’
The Los Angeles DA announced in his press conference that Judge Theresa McGonigle had set Ortiz’s bail at $1,875,000.
In the event that she should make bail, Ortiz was also ordered to stay away from Rihanna and Rocky.
In addition to issuing the protective order, Judge McGonigle ordered Ortiz to surrender all of her firearms.
Jim McDonnell, chief of the LAPD, said during a crime briefing in March that the motive for the shooting had not been established, but the investigation by the LAPD’s Robbery–Homicide Division was ongoing.
Ortiz has previously shared messages online directly targeting Rihanna, the Daily Mail has revealed.
She shared seething posts criticizing the hitmaker on Facebook, including one in which she suggested Rihanna had spoken negatively about her, though no connection between the women has been established.
She also shared videos in which she discussed Rihanna’s death and made disturbing threats toward the singer.
The Daily Mail has also revealed that Ortiz was previously arrested for domestic violence, careless driving and violating pretrial release conditions in Florida.
