NBC will air the pilot of the Peacock drama series M.I.A. for a special telecast on Thursday, May 14 at 10 p.m. ET/PT, the network announced today. The cross-promotion airing follows the series’ binge drop on Peacock a week earlier on May 7.

Peacock handed a straight-to-series order to the South Florida crime drama in 2024. It hails from Ozark co-creator Bill Dubuque.

M.I.A. stars Shannon Gisela as Etta Tiger Jonze. Restless in the Florida Keys, Etta dreams of a life in Miami’s glittering, sub-tropical kingdom. When her family’s drug-running business shatters in tragedy, however, Etta embarks on a dangerous journey through Miami’s neon-lit underbelly that will define who she is and what she’s ultimately capable of.

Cast also includes Cary Elwes, Danay Garcia, Brittany Adebumola, Dylan Jackson, Alberto Guerra, Maurice Compte, Gerardo Celasco and Marta Milans.

As we previously reported, in the Season 1 trailer, it’s revealed that most of Etta’s family was killed, and the young woman is hell-bent on revenge. She must find and kill a dozen men who were behind the crime, who are also hunting for her. By her side are her new friends, Lovely (Adebumola) and Stanley (Jackson), bringing together Latinos and Haitians, two of the largest communities in Miami.

Dubuque serves as executive producer and writer, and Karen Campbell serves as writer, executive producer and showrunner. Alethea Jones directed the first two episodes, Gwyneth Horder-Payton episode 3, Marizee Almas episodes 4 and 5, Ben Semanoff episodes 6 and 7 and John Dahl episodes 8 and 9.

MRC is the studio.
