While you may think quakes are a western US problem, some of the largest temblors in US history have happened in the East.
A series of earthquakes made for a busy morning of seismic activity with three quakes striking offshore near the Mexico–Guatemala border, and another rattling Central California.
The earthquakes ranged in magnitude from 3.7 to 4.6, adding to ongoing seismic activity along the Pacific Ring of Fire.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a magnitude 4.3 earthquake struck off the coast near Puerto Madero, Mexico, at 11:58 p.m. local time Monday night.
The initial earthquake was followed by a stronger magnitude 4.6 earthquake in the same area at 1:07 a.m. on Tuesday. Hours later, a third magnitude 4.3 earthquake struck farther up the coast near Aquiles Serdán at 5:07 a.m.

According to the FOX Forecast Center, these three recent earthquakes are aftershocks from the magnitude 7.3 quake that struck off the coast of Mexico, near the Guatemala border in July.
Meanwhile, a magnitude 3.7 rattled Central California shortly before 6:30 a.m. local time. The quake’s epicenter was about 6 miles northeast of Kettleman City, California.
As of Tuesday morning, there were no immediate reports of felt shaking or damage.
