The Motion Picture Association signed two declarations at the Lumière Summit, aimed at deepening international collaboration and investment in audiovisual sector, protecting intellectual property and strengthening the creative economy.

The MPA joined government and private sector partners in signing the Lumiere Declaration on the Future of Cinema and the Moving Image and the Declaration on Strengthened International Cooperation in the Fight Against Film and Audiovisual Piracy at the conclusion of the Summit.

MPA Chairman and CEO Charlies Rivkin also attended roundtables with Summit co-chairs, French President Emmanuel Macron and South Korean President Lee Jae Myung.

Rivkin joined President Lee and MPA member CEOs for a business roundtable focused on the industry’s commitment to partnering with Korea’s creative sector. He also participated alongside MPA member CEOs in a separate business roundtable with President Macron on the future of the industry and opportunities to deepen collaboration with France’s creative sector.

“Our industry is fueled by a simple proposition: audiences love great stories, well told. The Lumière Summit was an opportunity to write the next chapter for a creative sector that empowers creators, protects consumers, and connects audiences around the world,” said Rivkin. “From the U.S. to France to Korea and beyond, we each have a stake in ensuring that our industry remains a force for openness, a source of investment, and a driver of jobs, growth, and opportunity.  This Summit proved a vital forum to translate that common ground into greater cooperation.”
