Kaling, who created the Hulu comedy, looked as if she had taken a page from Kim Kardashian‘s playbook with the sequined dress, which bore a striking similarity to the reality star’s 2018 Met Gala look.
The 46-year-old former Office star looked slimmer than ever in the gleaming ensemble after she previously lost more than 40 pounds.
She flaunted her increasingly svelte figure after it led fans to beg her to ‘admit’ that she has been using Ozempic-like weight-loss drugs to achieve her weight loss, though Kaling has never confirmed if she has turned to the medications.
Kaling’s look departed from the dress that Kardashian wore eight years ago, as it eschewed the small, delicate sequins of her Versace gown in favor of larger, irregularly shaped sequins that created an intriguing cracking texture.
Her dress featured rhinestone trim over her bust and undulating shoulder straps decorated with more rhinestones.

The writer and actor complemented her dress with a pair of shimmering golden Louboutins, and she added some extra sparkle to her ensemble with a pair of dangling diamond earrings.
Kaling accessorized with a matching golden clutch, and she wore her lustrous raven tresses with a side part.
According to its logline, Not Suitable For Work ‘centers around five work-obsessed twenty-somethings striving for professional success and, if they have time, personal happiness in Manhattan’s most glamorous neighborhood, Murray Hill.’
It stars Will Angus, Avantika, Ella Hunt, Jack Martin, Nicholas Duvernay and Jay Ellis in the main cast, while Victor Garber, SNL’s Ego Nwodim and Constance Wu are among the recurring stars.
In addition to creating the single-camera comedy, Kaling is also serving as its showrunner.
She recently opened up about the motivation behind her stunning weight loss in an interview with Bustle.
‘When I was younger, I would want to lose weight because of vanity reasons,’ she explained. ‘Now I want to lose weight or have lost weight because I want to stave off things like diabetes.’
She added that she hoped to live ‘another 20 years’ by avoiding the disease, which has affected both sides of her family.

‘Do I wake up every day being like, “I look amazing and I’m so gorgeous?” No, unsurprisingly, but I truly feel so healthy,’ she continued.
Kaling, who has joked about being overweight as far back as her stint on The Office as Kelly Kapoor, also shared her thoughts on why her weight loss has struck up so much concern among her fans.
‘It’s sometimes no fun when one of your favorite actors loses weight,’ she said. ‘You have an idea of what they were like when you grew attached to them, and it made them endear themselves to you.’
Kaling first shed an impressive 40 pounds back in 2023, and that loss continued after the surprise birth of her third child in February 2024.
In May 2023, she opened up to People about the astounding first steps of her weight-loss journey as she prepared to launch a swimwear collection.
‘I’m feeling really confident in my body these days, which is not something that I’ve been able to say for my whole life, unfortunately,’ she admitted.
‘I know people are really interested in my body and the changes in my body, and I think it’s flattering and sometimes it’s just a little much, so I don’t try to tune it in too much,’ she continued. ‘The truth is that I spend so much time and energy trying to be healthy.’
According to Kaling, she had turned to weight training to help her lose weight and gain strength, while she also got plenty of cardio exercise in the form of either running or hiking, which she alternated week to week.

Kaling recently admitted that she focused on losing weight to stave off diabetes after it affected her family. However, some of her fans have begged her to ‘admit’ that she is using weight-loss drugs, despite her never indicating that she has used them
Fans have speculated that her ex and longtime friend B.J. Novak may be the father of her children, but she has brushed aside the rumors. However, he is the godfather to her oldest two kids, though she hasn’t confirmed if he serves the same role for baby Anne
She added that she always had to be ready for a workout due to her busy schedule and her parenting duties.
‘It’s hard with two kids that I wake up really early and I fit it in – and I basically live in workout clothes so I can get it in, get an extra mile in,’ she said of her children Katherine Swati, eight, and Spencer Avu, five.
That was before the surprise birth of her third child, Anne, who is now two.
She announced the birth in June 2024, revealing her daughter had arrived in late February of that year.
So far, Kaling has declined to reveal the father of her three children.
In 2019, she told the New York Times before the birth of her son Spencer: ‘My feeling is that, until I speak to my daughter about that, I’m not going to talk to anyone else about it.’
Notably, her Office costar and longtime friend, B.J. Novak, is the godfather to her children.
Novak has been the subject of fan rumors suggesting he is the father of Kaling’s children, but she has brushed those aside without explicitly denying them.
The two had previously dated on and off for years, though they ended their relationship in 2007 while remaining on good terms.
In July of 2024, Novak confirmed that he had met Anne.
