They were one of Married At First Sight 2027’s biggest success stories, leaving the experiment engaged and planning a future together.

But Daily Mail can exclusively reveal Stella Mickunaite and Filip Gregov have quietly called time on their romance weeks shy of their one-year anniversary.

The fan favourites, who defied the reality TV curse by staying together long after filming wrapped, have now unfollowed each other on Instagram, with insiders confirming the relationship ended several weeks ago.

According to a source close to the couple, it was Stella who ultimately made the difficult decision to end the relationship, something she appeared to allude to in her emotional social media statement shared after she was approached for comment by this masthead.

‘It was ultimately Stella who decided to end things. She’d been wrestling with it for a while and eventually realised they just weren’t on the same page about what they wanted out of life,’ the insider revealed.

While there was no dramatic blow-up, the source said differences over their future gradually became impossible to ignore.

‘There wasn’t some huge explosive fight. It was more of a slow realisation that they were heading in different directions,’ they explained.

The Mail understands finances became one of several issues placing strain on the relationship.

‘Money wasn’t the only issue, but it definitely became a sticking point. Stella has always been very ambitious and wanted someone who could provide the lifestyle she was looking for,’ the insider claimed.

‘She wanted a partner who could really support her financially, and she didn’t feel Filip was in that position.’

The pair, who were last publicly pictured together in May, had also been spending increasing amounts of time apart in recent months.

‘People around them had noticed the distance for a little while. With Filip based in Melbourne for work and Stella spending more time with friends in Sydney, they were living quite separate lives,’ the source said.

Those close to the former couple say Filip has been left devastated by the split.

‘Filip is absolutely heartbroken. He genuinely thought they had a future together, but he’s trying to keep himself busy by throwing himself into work and spending as much time as possible with his family in Melbourne,’ the insider said.

Stella appeared to publicly acknowledge the breakup for the first time in a lengthy and emotional Instagram post on Monday in which she admitted she had made mistakes during the relationship.

‘It would be easy to tell this story by deciding who was right and who was wrong. To point fingers. To protect my ego. To pretend I was perfect. But no. I’m not here for that,’ she wrote.

The reality star said the breakup had forced her to confront uncomfortable truths about herself.

‘I made mistakes. I have regrets. And while those truths are painful to sit with… they’re also incredible gifts,’ she continued.

Stella went on to reveal the relationship had exposed fears she hadn’t previously recognised, admitting her ambition had sometimes been driven by anxiety about the future.

‘Sometimes, sitting quietly beside that ambition… was fear. Fear of uncertainty. Fear of falling behind. Fear that the future I dreamed of might somehow slip through my fingers,’ she wrote.

She also reflected on how that fear may have affected her relationship.

‘Sometimes they experience someone who is so focused on tomorrow that they unintentionally miss the beauty of today. That has been one of the hardest mirrors I’ve ever had to look into.’

The TV bride concluded with a poignant reflection on love, writing: ‘Love isn’t only about having a good heart. It’s about the impact we leave on the heart standing opposite ours. That is a lesson I’ll carry with me.’

Meanwhile, Stella has reportedly been leaning on her fellow MAFS castmates for support as she adjusts to life after the breakup.

‘Stella has been leaning heavily on her MAFS family. Rachel and Chris have really rallied around her and have been there to support her through the breakup,’ the source added, referring to co-stars Rachel Gilmore and Chris Robinson.

The insider said the pair initially hoped to keep their split out of the spotlight.

‘Neither of them wanted to make a big public announcement straight away. They were hoping to deal with it privately before people started asking questions.’

However, eagle-eyed fans soon noticed Stella and Filip had quietly unfollowed each other on social media.

‘They’ve quietly unfollowed each other on Instagram, which was a pretty clear sign to those close to them that it was over,’ the insider said.

Despite the heartbreaking end to their relationship, the source insists there is no bad blood between the pair.

'Filip is absolutely heartbroken. He genuinely thought they had a future together, but he's trying to keep himself busy by throwing himself into work and spending as much time as possible with his family in Melbourne,' the insider said

‘They genuinely cared about each other, but sometimes love isn’t enough when long-term goals don’t align,’ they added.

‘Stella wants someone who’s already established and can match the life she’s working towards.

‘She didn’t think Filip was there yet.’

Stella and Filip emerged as one of the standout success stories from Married At First Sight 2026, becoming engaged after filming and continuing their relationship in the real world.

While many predicted the couple would go the distance, their romance has now become the latest casualty of the reality TV experiment.

Daily Mail has contacted Stella and Filip for comment.
