Alex Cooper’s dating series Love Overboard has capsized after Hulu canceled it after one season.
The show, which premiered at the end of March, failed to create a huge amount of buzz, particularly compared to other Hulu unscripted originals such as The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, The Kardashians and Vanderpump Villa.
Love Overboard was Call Her Daddy host Cooper’s first foray into unscripted television.
The show was hosted by Gabby Windey and set on the high seas. It followed a group of “sexy singles”, who stepped aboard a luxury yacht, ready to mix and mingle and find love. But there was a twist, gaining access to the yacht’s extravagant amenities wouldn’t be so simple.
It was won by Gia Aldisert and Tim Demirjian, who won a $100,000 trip around the world.
It was produced by Cooper’s production company Unwell Productions, Mormon Wives producer Jeff Jenkins Productions in association with 3BMG, and Walt Disney Television Alternative. Cooper served as executive producer alongside Matt Kaplan and Mina Lefevre at Unwell Productions; Jeff Jenkins, Russell Jay-Staglik and Jason Ehrlich at Jeff Jenkins Productions; and Ross Weintraub and Reinout Oerlemans at 3BMG. The cancelation was first reported by Page Six.
