Lewis Capaldi broke down at his Hyde Park gig as he said he ‘wasn’t sure if it would be possible’ for him to perform again after his Tourette’s diagnosis.
The Scottish singer, 29, is taking on two headline performances at this year’s BST Hyde Park, sponsored by Peroni.
And on Saturday night he became emotional as he reflected on how far he has come in the last few years.
Lewis took time off to focus on his mental health and to ‘adjust to the impact’ of his Tourette’s diagnosis following his emotional set at Glastonbury festival in 2023.
Last year, he made a massive return to Glastonbury’s iconic Pyramid Stage before embarking on a 17-date UK and Ireland arena tour.
He said on stage this weekend: ‘To be here with you all and to be able to…’, he then couldn’t finish his sentence as he took some time to compose himself.

He then added after gathering himself: ‘I didn’t know if this would be possible again so to be here it’s really special for me!’
Earlier in the night he begged fans to stay until the very end of his BST performance as he joked the crowd were going to leave for the England match.
As England took on Norway in the nail-biting World Cup quarter-finals, Lewis feared that his fans would leave for the pub instead.
Lewis said: ‘Thank you for being here! Although I know a lot of you might leave when the England game comes on.’
‘Let’s not get into it. I’m Scottish, most of you guys are English. Can’t we all live in peace and harmony? It’s coming home’, he joked.
Lewis added: ‘But it’s f****** special that you’re here, I appreciate you being here when you could be anywhere else.
‘Even if you do go to the pub early… I mean, stay please, as many of you stay until the end as possible.’
Lewis was said to have splashed £2,000 on drinks for England fans at the Marlborough pub in Mayfair after the Three Lions beat Mexico on Monday.
He reportedly ‘put a generous amount behind the bar’ for punters during his drunken all-nighter with Rita Ora, 35.
Lewis and Rita shared videos on their Instagram Stories singing their songs with the crowd after the game.
A partygoer said: ‘When the final whistle went and England won, Lewis bought every single punter in the Marlborough a drink.

‘Bar staff were instructed to charge all the drinks ordered to him. The tab was almost £2,000 in the end. It was a massive treat and a real lovely gesture, especially from a Scotland fan.’

During his first performance at Glastonbury three years ago, Lewis was coming out of a three-week mental health hiatus he had taken to ‘rest and recover’.
Returning to the stage, the singer admitted he had been ‘s**t scared’ to perform as he opened up about his mental health struggles and battle against Tourette’s.
The neurological condition is characterised by a combination of involuntary noises and movements called tics, and can cause speech and voice abnormalities.
In the middle of his set, Lewis confessed that he was struggling with his Tourette’s and said his voice had ‘packed it in’, after coughing throughout the show.
However, his supportive fans rallied around him, with the show coming to a heartwarming close as the supportive crowd sang out his hit Someone You Love at the top of their voices.
Lewis emotionally left the stage, saying: ‘Glastonbury, I’m really sorry. I’m a bit annoyed with myself’.
Afterwards, he announced he would be ‘taking a break for the foreseeable future’ as it was ‘obvious’ he needs to spend ‘much more time getting my mental and physical health in order’.
The hitmaker, who had been due to embark upon a world tour, explained he needed time to ‘adjust to the impact’ of living with Tourette’s, admitting it was ‘the most difficult [decision] of my life’.
Lewis had charted his struggles with the condition in a documentary How I’m Feeling Now, which aired in April 2023, two months before his breakdown at Glastonbury.
Lewis released his first album, Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent in 2019, followed by Broken by Desire to be Heavenly Sent in 2023, which debuted at No 1 with 95,000 sold, making it the fastest-selling album of the year.
