Karl Stefanovic admits he woke up fresh for the first time in 20 years following Logie Awards snub

Karl Stefanovic is taking his roasting at the Sunday night TV Week Logies Awards in good stride, smugly doubling down on just how little it bothered him.

The former Today co-host, who skipped the Logies ceremony over the weekend after turning his back on mainstream media, was spotted looking decidedly low-key while strolling through Sydney on Tuesday.

The 52-year-old appeared unfazed by the jokes at his expense, cutting a casual figure as he went about his day.

When approached by Daily Mail for comment, Stefanovic shrugged off the snub, claiming he was feeling better than ever.

‘I didn’t watch the Logies. I had the most beautiful night’s sleep. I woke up fresh on a Monday for the first time in 20 years,’ he said.

He added he bore no ill-will towards host Robert Irwin, despite the jokes the celebrity conservationist made at his expense on the night.

‘You can’t be cranky with Irwin… It would be like being cranky with Bambi!’ he joked.

The podcaster opted for a laid-back ensemble, wearing a grey long-sleeve jumper over a black top, paired with black jeans.

He completed his look with black boots and accessorised with a designer leather carry bag slung over his shoulder.

With his low-key outing suggesting business as usual, he appeared to be leaving the Logies drama firmly behind him.

Over the weekend, Stefanovic’s absence from the star-studded awards night was notable, with the presenter having stepped away from traditional television in favour of his podcasting career.

Despite missing out on the glitzy celebrations, his name was still firmly in the spotlight after he became the butt of several jokes.

He was mercilessly roasted despite being nominated for the Ray Martin Award for Most Popular News or Public Affairs Presenter.

His absence came after his dramatic departure from Nine in June, following his controversial interview with far-right figure Tommy Robinson, bringing his long-running tenure on the network’s breakfast program to an abrupt end.

Irwin wasted no time targeting the former Today show presenter, joking that organisers needed fewer bartenders because of his absence.

‘Unfortunately, Karl didn’t RSVP tonight, which means we didn’t have to hire quite as many bartenders,’ he told the audience at The Star Sydney.

‘But we’ve kept him a spare seat, just in case. It’s over there to the right – the far right.’

The savage punchline was greeted with laughter before Irwin swiftly moved on with the show.

Angry viewers later slammed the ceremony online, calling it a ‘woke fest’ and past its use-by date.

Many said some of the show’s presenters overly pandered to its ‘left-wing’ guests while taking aim at right-leaning figures, including Stefanovic, Dave Hughes and One Nation leader Pauline Hanson.
