Invest 93C has officially been designated in the Central Pacific amid two other areas to watch in the Pacific basin. As the highest-threat system, it puts a target on Hawaii. Latest update:

A tropical traffic jam continues across the Pacific amid the active hurricane season of seven named storms so far. The FOX Forecast Center is tracking three areas of interest designated between Mexico and Hawaii over the open waters, with one in particular worth watching for the Aloha State.

Over the next seven days, these three disturbances range from low to high chances of development. The FOX Forecast Center is most concerned with the high-probability system dubbed Invest 93C as it approaches Hawaii later this week.

Several forecast models suggest Hawaii could eventually be in the path of potential tropical activity in about a week from now, with a tropical depression expected to develop some time early this week.

The next name on the Central Pacific list of named storms is Lala.

The ocean water in the Eastern and Central Pacific is extremely warm, giving Hawaii a greater-than-average chance of dealing with a tropical storm or hurricane this year.

Monster waves are expected to impact Hawaii regardless of whether the disturbance actually develops into an official storm.

“Everyone in the islands should be thinking about their hurricane plans,” the FOX Forecast Center said.

LATEST FROM FOX WEATHER HURRICANE SPECIALIST BRYAN NORCROSS

FOX Weather’s exclusive Tropical Threat graphic highlights a moderate chance for tropical development heading into next week southeast of Hawaii.

Additionally, the Climate Prediction Center’s two-week Tropical Hazards Outlook also highlights this region, as well as areas south of Hawaii, for potential development.

FOX Weather Senior Correspondent Robert Ray is on the ground in Hawaii discussing how a powerful, or even Super El Niño impacts the Aloha State and its people.

Elsewhere in the Eastern Pacific, two other areas of disturbed weather are active, with one carrying a medium chance of development and the other holding a low chance over the next week.

So far this season, the strengthening El Niño has helped keep the basin active, producing seven named storms, including Hurricane Genevieve, which reached Category 5 intensity.

The next name on the list is Hernan, with the average date of the “H” storm in the Eastern Pacific being August 21.
