Saoirse Ronan is ready to step into the dark side and is doubling down on wanting to play a villain in the James Bond universe.
The next 007 actor has not been revealed yet, and in a new interview, Ronan said she would like to play a villain if given the opportunity.
“I want to go dark,” she told Empire. “I said that I wanted to be a Bond villain and I’m dead serious.”
She continued, “I think it would be really interesting, having a young female villain. Especially for girls and women, to see someone who can just take all that pent-up anger and direct it somewhere, there’s something interesting in that dramatically. So I would love to do more of that.”
This was not the first time that the Lady Bird star has expressed her desire to play a Bond villain.
In an interview from 2024, she told Vanity Fair, “I will stand by really wanting to play a Bond villain, which I will say again and again. Because anytime that I’ve gotten a chance to play someone who’s a little bit evil, I just love it. And I think it would be really fun to do that again.”
Explaining her love of the Bond villains, she said that she finds “the characters very interesting, adding, “I do think there’s something kind of cool about having a female villain who wants to take him down and doesn’t just want to fall in love with him.”
The search for the next James Bond has been underway, with auditions reportedly taking place this month.
