Hours after Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair debuted on Hulu, Frankie Muniz walked away from a crash at his other job.

On Friday, the actor and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series racer was involved in wreck with Tyler Reif and Timmy Hill on the Bristol Motor Speedway, damaging his Malcolm in the Middle themed Ford F-150 and taking him out of the race.

“I actually thought we were running pretty good,” Muniz told Fox Sports. “I felt pretty quick. We were in the lucky dog position, so I was just trying to do some good lap times. I think there was like 10 to go on the stage.”

After the crash, Muniz said Reif was “yelling at me in there saying I’m a lapper, like I shouldn’t be racing. I’m in the lucky dog position.”

Muniz added, “I’m fighting. I belong on that racetrack just as much as he does, just as much as the leaders do. And I’m not going to back down on that. I haven’t seen a replay, but based on what I felt, I went to the middle of track. I didn’t track all the way out to show that I was going to go back to the bottom.”

Stepping back from acting to pursue racing in 2008, Muniz recently reprised his title role in Hulu’s Malcolm in the Middle revival, all four episodes of which debuted Friday on the streamer.

“Obviously right now, I’m pursuing racing full-time, and a lot of that has to do with the fact that when I dive into something, I go 100%,” Muniz explained to Deadline. “I don’t have hobbies, I wanna be the best race car driver I can be. I have an opportunity in front of me, and I wanna try to go out and win all the races and make Ford and all my sponsors super proud, and myself proud. But definitely, if had an opportunity to go back into the acting world, I wouldn’t hesitate. I would love to be there.”
