EXCLUSIVE: In a competitive situation, Artists First has signed rising genre filmmaker Alexander Henderson for management.
Henderson is a self-taught writer, director and producer who has built a significant following through his YouTube channel, AlexanderTheTitan, generating hundreds of hours of content. He found breakout success with his horror short Mama Agnes, which has amassed more than 10 million views. Across his entire catalog, his work has generated more than 60 million; this includes numerous short films, the 20-episode series VCR Willie, and two independently produced features, VCR Willie: Tape 1 and The Red Nightmare. Each project was created on a shoestring budget without outside financing.
As a filmmaker, Henderson is interested in juxtaposing grounded characters and everyday settings with suspense, horror and the supernatural. A former collegiate athlete, he briefly pursued a career in professional football before making the decision to dedicate himself fully to filmmaking.
The Artists First signing comes as Henderson looks to parlay creator-driven success into work in traditional film and television. As a Black filmmaker working in the space, he sees an opportunity to bring perspectives to horror that have historically been underrepresented, while maintaining the accessible, audience-first storytelling that has driven his success to date.
