Ed Miliband is perfectly happy to sacrifice British industry for his Net Zero dream

Cheating Ed

ED Miliband is as dogmatic over Net Zero as he is dishonest.

In order to hit the unachievable target of making the national grid 95 per cent gas-free by 2030, the Energy Secretary has told officials to classify electricity imported from abroad as “zero carbon.”

That includes any that is produced in those countries using gas or even coal.

Risibly, Miliband says this because the emissions occur outside UK borders.

His wilful doublethink shows he is perfectly happy to sacrifice British industry for his Net Zero dream while paying vast sums to import less-clean energy from elsewhere.

If he isn’t worried about emissions from across the Channel in France and Belgium why is he still not allowing drilling in the North Sea?

KITCHEN NIGHTMARE

Ed Miliband’s wife Justine does not want him to run for Labour leader

THE SUN SAYS

As long as Miliband is calling the shots, Britain’s fuel crisis will continue

Or allowing fracking to exploit the UK’s vast untapped reserves of shale gas which could keep fertiliser costs — and therefore food prices — down?

Why can’t His Greenness see this?

Instead he prefers to hoodwink the public with a deviousness that would make even 1980s Soviet leaders blush.

Bleeding hell

MEANWHILE, fuel prices are through the roof and drivers face the nightmare of forecourt shortages within a fortnight.

The average price difference between diesel at 179.9p per litre and petrol at 151p is the worst since 2003.

At some pumps, diesel is an eye-popping 199.99p.

The RAC warns white van man is “bleeding cash” just to stay on the road.

Across the world, countries are taking action, including Australia which has already halved fuel duty.

Yet amid calls from the Tories and Reform to axe VAT on it, Rachel Reeves has so far refused to budge on her plans to INCREASE fuel duty here at home.

Yesterday, the Chancellor offered her solution to this impending doom and threat of recession to fellow G7 finance ministers:

That they must adopt Britain’s Net Zero policies to end their reliance on international oil and gas.

That may or may not help in another couple of decades.

But right now it won’t make a damn bit of difference to struggling drivers.

Woken up

IN recent years, policing top brass have completely lost the plot.

Cops have spent millions of taxpayers’ cash aggressively pursuing members of the public over hurty tweets.

Meanwhile, the high street has been left in the grip of a shoplifting epidemic and so few burglaries are investigated that they have been effectively legalised.

So it’s a victory for common sense that Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood has finally stopped police investigating so-called non-crime hate incidents.

Officers cannot allow themselves to be captured by woke madness ever again.
