EXCLUSIVE: KiKi Layne (Vought Rising) and Luke Hemsworth (Westworld) have boarded Deadlocked, the new action film from Amazon MGM Studios that Deadline revealed earlier this month.
Character details are being kept under wraps. The duo joins previously announced Jamie Foxx and Sasha Calle.
Directed by Nikhil Bhat, Deadlocked follows a grieving former Marine serving jury duty who is forced back into action when the trial of the century turns into a deadly hostage situation as the defendant’s daughter seizes the courthouse to free her father.
Written by Eric Scot Anderson (The Black Fox) and Matt Takejiro Bosack (CBS’ NCIS: Hawai’i) and based on their original idea, the film is being made for streaming. Producers include Fred Berger for Range, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Dave Caplan for C2, and Foxx for Foxxhole Productions. AJ Bourscheid, Liz Destro, Paul Currie and Corinne Foxx are serving as executive producers.
Breaking out with her lead role in Barry Jenkins’ If Beale Street Could Talk, Layne has also been seen in The Old Guard films from Netflix, HBO’s Native Son, Coming 2 America, Don’t Worry Darling and more. Upcoming, she’ll be seen in Vought Rising, Prime Video’s prequel to The Boys, which is slated for release next year. She is repped by CAA and Brillstein Entertainment Partners.
Best known for his four-season run on HBO’s Westworld, Hemsworth recently joined the Terminal List universe, appearing opposite Chris Pratt and Taylor Kitsch in the prequel Dark Wolf and the upcoming season of True Believer for Prime Video. He is repped by CAA, Fourward, and Greenberg Glusker.
