Brian Duckworth, the country musician who performed with his brother and sister as the band Taylor Made, died Monday, September 7, at his home in Clarksburg, W. Va. He was 56.
His death was announced by family. A cause of death was not disclosed.
Taylor Made, which featured Duckworth, his brother Greg Duckworth and sister Wendy Williams, released its single “Things You Don’t Grow Out Of” in 2012 and, the following year, was named by Nashville’s MusicRow Magazine as Independent Artist of the Year. The siblings would opens for such major acts as Dierks Bentley and Miranda Lambert.

While the band continued to perform, Duckworth would keep his job as a dump truck operator.
“He was the ‘Truck Boss,’” his family wrote in announcing his death, “a job he truly enjoyed because it allowed him to spend his days outdoors. Whether working or relaxing, Brian was happiest surrounded by nature.
“Music was also a special part of his life,” the statement continues. “He loved to sing and proudly performed with his family band, Taylor Made. Brian never passed up an opportunity to share his voice, earning him the affectionate nickname ‘Nashville’…Brian’s love of family, music, and the outdoors will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.”
In a Facebook tribute, Duckworth’s niece, Brianna Duckworth Kazner, wrote, “I grew up watching my dad, Aunt Wendy, and Uncle Brian perform at fairs and festivals until I was finally old enough to join them on a few occasions. As I’ve gotten older and started writing my own music, I knew the guy to call whenever I got creatively ‘stuck.’ He truly had such a way with song lyrics that I knew without a doubt Uncle Brian would pull me out of the songwriter’s slump.”
Duckworth is survived by wife Tina Scheuvront Duckworth; six children, four grandchildren, and five sisters and brothers.
