Glenn Ficarra and John Requa’s dramedy Honeymoon with Harry starring Kevin Costner and Jake Gyllenhaal will begin shooting in the Australian state of Queensland in April, with I Know What You Did Last Summer star Sarah Pidgeon also in talks to join the cast.
The Amazon MGM Studio production, the latest in a steady stream of Queensland-made projects for the studio, will shoot in the state’s capital of Brisbane and tropical islands of The Whitsundays.
Based on the novel by Bart Baker, Honeymoon with Harry follows a rough-around-the-edges man (Gyllenhaal) who ends up sharing an unwanted journey with his fiancée’s prickly, overprotective father (Costner) after a life-altering turn upends their plans. Against the backdrop of an island honeymoon, the two men clash and bicker before gradually uncovering an unexpected bond in this emotional dramedy.
The shoot was announced by Screen Queensland in a release quoting the state’s Minister for the Arts, John-Paul Langbroek on how the body’s Production Attraction Strategy (PAS) incentives offering continues to deliver employment and economic benefits for the state.
“During production, Honeymoon with Harry will contribute an estimated $51 million to the state’s economy and employ 215 people, as well as showcasing our state as a tourism destination to audiences around the world,” he said.
Screen Queensland CEO Jacqui Feeney added. “We are delighted to be a trusted partner for Amazon MGM, with our local screen industry providing the high-quality expertise that they can rely on, while our competitive incentives enable them to capitalise on our captivating locations and first-class infrastructure.”
