Cher has filed papers with a Los Angeles court stating her opposition to her son Elijah Blue Allman’s wife Marieangela King-Allman being appointed as his conservator.
The issue was brought before the court as Allman, 50, who is dealing with legal and mental health issues following a pair of arrests earlier this year, remains in custody at the New Hampshire State Hospital, a psychiatric facility.
King-Allman, 39, requested to be appointed as Allman’s conservator in an August 18 filing, which Cher pushed back on in an August 28 filing via her lawyer, Justin Gold; The Daily Mail has reviewed both of the respective filings.
The singer-actress, 80, said in her filing her ‘family believes that [King-Allman] is inserting herself back into the picture on a quest for money and/or a bit of fame.’
The latest comes less than two months after the New Hampshire State Hospital on July 7 sought to establish a guardianship in the state for Allman ‘for both his person and estate,’ suggesting his half-brothers Chaz Bono and Devon Allman assume the responsibilities, according to Cher’s filing.
The Daily Mail has reached out to Cher’s attorney and King-Allman for further comment on the story.

Cher in her legal filing said that ‘the New Hampshire State Hospital, and the rest of the family remain adamantly opposed to Mrs. King-Allman serving’ as guardian, noting a number of factors.
They included the couple’s ‘previously pending divorce;’ and King-Allman’s ‘refusal and failure to assist’ Allman (the son of Cher and late rocker Gregg Allman) and his caretaker Kayti Pease ‘while he was struggling before he was arrested in New Hampshire.’
A conservatorship hearing in Los Angeles on Tuesday was postponed by Superior Court Judge Jessica A. Uzcategui until December 1, as Allman nor his legal representative had been on hand, Page Six reported.
Cher said in her filing that ‘King-Allman was in the process of divorcing’ Allman for months and had been ‘estranged from him’ when she ‘initiated this conservatorship proceeding’ earlier this year.
King-Allman ‘never lifted a finger to help’ her spouse amid repeated requests for assistance from Pease, Cher said in the filing.
Cher told the court that she believed King-Allman viewed the guardian position as ‘a financial opportunity to control his income, and she has attempted to seize the opportunity created by his incarceration to try to reinsert herself back into his life.’
Allman had declined to see King-Allman on three occasions when she visited him in New Hampshire, Cher said in her filing.
She added of King-Allman, ‘Given her behavior and indifference to his health and living situation over the prior year, she, in no way, should ever be considered as a viable candidate to serve as a court-appointed fiduciary.’

Allman and King-Allman initially wed in 2013, and King-Allman entered a divorce filing in 2021.
It had been dismissed in February 2024, and she filed a subsequent divorce filing in April of 2025 citing ‘irreconcilable differences.’ That filing had been dismissed this past June.
King-Allman said last month that she had not been ‘properly served’ with information in regards to a conservatorship for Allman, which she thinks she should be in charge of.
She said that with Allman in the facility in New Hampshire, the state remains ‘uniquely and properly situated’ to deal with the guardianship issue; and that Cher’s ‘continued pursuit of this creates a clear jurisdictional conflict with the court in New Hampshire.’
King-Allman said in her filing she felt Allman’s recovery would be jeopardized if Cher – ‘from whom he has been estranged for years’ – were to select his conservator.
In May, court docs filed on Allman’s behalf said that Cher had not provided him with money since August of 2021.

Allman spoke candidly in 2014 with Entertainment Tonight about his history of substance abuse.
‘I started with drugs around the same time that we all did, around 11,’ he said, referring to marijuana and MDMA. ‘I mean, it’s just what you did, it’s just what everybody did.’
Allman said he later got into ‘heroin and opiates’ amid a rough time in his life, adding, ‘If you can only just go through that time period and live through it and then get help.’
He said that he ‘did have some close calls and some moments of really feeling at the edge of mortality’ at the time he was using.
‘I always kind of kept it a little bit safe, but you never can do that. Even though you think that in your mind, of course, the wrong things can happen,’ Allman said. ‘The wrong combination of things can happen, and you can just slip into the abyss.
‘I knew it was wrong, and I knew that I was very unsatisfied with life at that point.’
