Apple TV Unveils Cast Of Spouses For A24’s Juno Temple Series Husbands

EXCLUSIVE: Juno Temple’s multiple on-screen husbands have been revealed. Joe Alwyn, Richard Gadd, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Joel Kinnaman, Daniel Ings, Bob Morley and Fehinti Balogun have all signed on to play the spouses to lead star Temple in Apple TV’s The Husbands.

The high-concept series comes from A24 and follows Lauren, played by Ted Lasso and Fargo star Temple. She returns home to her London flat one night and is greeted by her husband, Michael. The problem is she’s never seen this man before. As Lauren tries to fathom how she is seemingly married to someone she can’t remember meeting, Michael goes to the attic to change a lightbulb and abruptly disappears. In his place, an entirely new husband emerges.

With an attic of husbands to cast over eight episodes, Apple and A24 have put together an impressive lineup, which leans heavily on British talent. Alwyn recently starred in Hamnet, and is joined in the cast by Gadd, who is also about to appear in Half Man, his next show after Netflix smash hit Baby Reindeer.

Ben-Adir’s credits include Bob Marley: One Love and Barbie, while U.S.-Swedish star Kinnaman is currently in multiple streaming shows including Jo Nesbø’s Detective Hole and For All Mankind. Ings, meanwhile, is recently off A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, Balogun starred in Down Cemetery Road and Australian actor Morley was in The 100.

In addition to the husbands, we have news on other casting for the show. Tom Basden, star of indie hit The Ballad of Wallis Island, will appear, as will Joe Wilkinson (After Life), Gemma Whelan (Gentlemen Jack), Rebekah Murrell (One Day) and Shazad Latif (Wuthering Heights).

We were first with the news Apple had greenlit The Husbands last year. The show is adapted from author and games designer Holly Gramazio’s bestselling debut novel of the same name. The comedic drama sets up an intriguing dilemma for its lead character as Lauren realizes that her attic is somehow creating an infinite supply of husbands. She must confront the question: If swapping lives is as easy as changing a lightbulb, how do you know you’ve taken the right path?

The Husbands is out of A24’s UK division, which recently hired Heartstopper EP Patrick Walters. Its upcoming TV projects upcoming Channel 4 soccer drama Major Players from Molly Manning Walker and Michaela Coel’s next show, First Day on Earth, for the BBC and HBO.

The Husbands is executive produced by lead writer Miriam Battye (Succession) alongside lead director Adam Randall (Slow Horses) and Josephine Bornebusch (Bad Sisters) who also directs, as does Kate Hewitt (One Day). Craig Gillespie (I, Tonya), Annie Marter (The Devil All The Time), Gramazio, Temple and A24 are the other EPs.
