AN RAF veteran has been threatened with eviction over his mobility scooter — just before Remembrance Day.
Ron Gibbs, 90, moved into son Jason’s one-bed housing association flat last year as his health failed.
The ex-RAF electrician kept his motorised scooter, which he uses to walk his two Yorkshire terriers, outside the back door.
Last week, a social housing manager told him to move it within a week or face eviction as it is a fire hazard.
When son Jason pleaded with the landlord, he was told there was nothing they could do.
Jason, 49, of Bradford, said: “I called them up and I spoke to the same manager and I have never been spoken to like it. He spoke to me like a piece of… well, I won’t say that word.
“He said the scooter had to be moved or we’d be evicted and they could confiscate it.
“I think that’s disgraceful. My father is an elderly veteran and they want to make him homeless just before Remembrance Day.
“It shows people don’t care about ex-service people.”
Social housing company Incommunities said: “The scooter poses a fire risk due to its storage location, which was too close to the building.
“Lithium batteries inside scooters can catch fire, putting the entire block at risk.”
It said it was helping to find “more suitable accommodation”.
