Warm and mostly clear skies over Southern California early this week are expected to turn cooler and cloudier with a chance of rain by the weekend.
“Temperatures today are great,” KTLA Meteorologist Henry DiCarlo said Tuesday morning. Downtown Los Angeles expects a high of 75 degrees with mostly sunny skies.
A little cooling is on tap for Wednesday and Thursday as low clouds and fog coverage increase, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
“Look at Thursday,” Henry said. “We have a storm to the north and it’s throwing some moisture back our way. So, it does give us a chance of maybe Wednesday evening picking up some dark clouds. Maybe getting a little light sprinkle here or there on Thursday, but we are not taking a direct hit.”
The weekend forecast calls for cool and cloudy conditions with a stubborn marine layer burnoff near the coast and a chance of rain inland.
“The I.E. (Inland Empire) … There’s that shot of some rain. Looks like that system for the weekend, originally forecast for Saturday night, is now looking like it’s a little bit stalled, and as a result, we’ll push that rain back, which means a little bit more for your Sunday,” Henry said.
The timing and amount of moisture will be better pinpointed later in the week, Henry said.
Monday is expected to be dry and a few degrees warmer as the system moves to the east.
