What will be the coolest temperatures in Miami today during the heat

A plume of Saharan dust has reached parts of Florida, bringing hazy skies Wednesday as the blanket of African dust is expected to send temperatures soaring across the Gulf Coast this weekend and is a contributing factor to the ongoing pause in the Atlantic hurricane season.

The scorching heat has returned to the Southeast, with Florida on track for sweltering conditions Thursday.

In addition to the heat taking over the Sunshine State, Saharan dust will once again travel over 5,000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean, blanketing Florida and the coast along the Gulf of America, resulting in hazy skies into this weekend.

By Saturday, people across the state will notice a good amount of dust in the dry air, adding a layer to the unpleasant conditions this week.

The heat shows no signs of slowing down, with a Heat Advisory in place for Miami and Heat Index Values as high as 105 degrees expected in the afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

Heat alerts are in effect throughout the day, extending from Jacksonville to Miami, with record-breaking temperatures possible through Friday.

As a result, prediction markets are pondering how low temperatures could drop today amid the scorching heat.

WILL 2026 BE THE HOTTEST YEAR EVER AMID RECORD-BREAKING TEMPERATURES ACROSS THE US?

Prediction markets at Kalshi are expecting a 97% chance that temperatures will drop as low as 81 to 82 degrees today, while there is a less likely 2% chance they could dip below 80 degrees.

As things heat up, the Saharan dust will act as a thermal blanket across the state, trapping heat and keeping temperatures elevated through the weekend and into the beginning of next week.
