WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — Singer Zayn Malik released a statement saying that he has decided to postpone the U.S. leg of his “STAIRWAY TO THE SKY” tour following the death of his former One Director bandmate Liam Payne.
Payne, 31, and Malik, 31, were part of the global British boy band known as One Direction from 2010 until 2015 when Malik decided to part ways with the band.
Payne was found dead on Oct.16 after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina local officials said according to AP.
Malik said “Given the heartbreaking loss experienced this week, I’ve made the decision to postpone the US leg of the STAIRWAY TO THE SKY Tour. The dates are being rescheduled for January and I’ll post them as soon as it’s all set in the next few days. Your tickets will remain valid for the new dates. Love you all and thank you for your understanding.”
Malik had concerts planned in 7 U.S. cities, including Washington D.C., which was scheduled for Oct. 30.
