A 21-year-old Yucaipa man was shot after he saved his teenaged brother from a physical assault, authorities said.
The man, whose identity was not released, was driving home just before 7 p.m. on Sunday evening when he spotted his 17-year-old brother being assaulted by a fellow resident of their mobile home park, 60-year-old Kris Morgan, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.
The elder brother intervened, prompting Morgan to threaten to kill him and head towards his home in the 33800 block of Avenue G.
“Moments later, Morgan emerged from his home armed with a silver revolver and began firing at the victim and his brother,” the release said. “As the victim attempted to escape in his vehicle he was struck by a bullet, sustaining a gunshot wound to his left arm.”
The victim was treated for a gunshot wound and is in stable condition.
Deputies responded and Morgan exited his residence with the silver revolver still in hand before dropping it, authorities said.
A total of eight firearms were seized from Morgan’s home.
He faces an attempted murder charge and is being held at the Central Detention Center in lieu of $2.3 million bail.
He’s due to appear in San Bernardino Superior Court on Tuesday.
