A YOUNG schoolgirl has tragically died in hospital following a horror traffic collision that left her fighting for her life.
The youngster, understood to be of secondary school age, was rushed to hospital after a large Dacia Duster SUV collided with her in Weeting, Norfolk.
Emergency services, including an air ambulance, rushed to the scene on the busy road on Saturday November 8 and battled to save the girl’s life.
She was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge with life threatening injuries after the car smashed into her.
Tragically the young girl has now been pronounced dead, cops said.
The busy road was closed overnight while emergency services worked at the horrific scene.
The driver of the car is understood to be assisting police as their investigation into the collision continues.
An inquiry into the tragic collision remains ongoing and Norfolk Constabulary is appealing for any witnesses to the horror to come forward.
The force said: “Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who may have any relevant dashcam footage.
“The driver is assisting police with their enquiries.
