Ashley Darby thinks fans will view the remaining episodes of The Real Housewives of Potomac Season 9 “differently” now that videos from the night of Karen Huger‘s DUI arrest have surfaced.
On Sunday night’s (Jan. 12) episode of Watch What Happens Live, host Andy Cohen asked Darby if viewers will have a different take on the rest of Season 9 after seeing the police camera footage from Huger’s arrest, in which she drunkenly calls herself “Thomas Jefferson’s concubine.”
“Of course you will. You won’t be able to not,” Darby confirmed. “Because there are so many things that Karen deflects from and so many things that she denies that are actually proven to be true on the tapes.”
Huger totaled her car in a high-speed accident last March, resulting in multiple traffic violations, including DUI. The reality star claimed she was innocent and only had a couple of beers with a friend before someone ran her off the road. But in the videos released following her guilty verdict, she was clearly slurring her words — and even told the cop she was “lit” at one point.
Darby said she felt “pure shock” after seeing the footage.
“We had actually seen Karen’s attorney out and about a few weeks before,” Darby said. “And he was just saying, ‘Oh, everything’s gonna be fine.’ Just reassuring us, too. It was Giselle [Bryant], Robyn [Dixon] and I. So we believed him. We thought they had this in the bag, like, they knew what they were doing.”
“When that footage aired and we saw everything that transpired, we wondered, ‘How on earth did they decide to go to trial?’” she continued. “All of that was just so — something’s not adding up. Something’s not right.”
Huger’s team revealed last week that she checked herself into a “private recovery program” and missed the Real Housewives of Potomac Season 9 reunion as a result.
“She was fully supported in this choice,” her manager Ryan Tresdale said in a statement, per Bravo’s The Daily Dish. “We stand behind Karen as she embarks on this meaningful journey and are proud of her for taking such a significant step forward in her personal growth.”
Watch What Happens Live airs Sunday through Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET on Bravo. New episodes are available to stream the next day on Peacock.
