A woman sitting in her living room was struck by a stray bullet fired toward her San Bernardino County home last week by a man involved in a nearby domestic dispute, authorities said Thursday.
Deputies responded around 11 a.m. on Feb. 12 to the shooting in the 3000 block of Duffy Street in Muscoy and contacted the victim.
“A bullet traveled through the victim’s residence, ultimately striking her in the upper body. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries,” the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department stated in a news release.
Investigators learned that the shooting was the result of a domestic dispute between the suspect, identified as 46-year-old Vito Luna of Muscoy, and another woman.
“Sometime during the dispute, Luna discharged a firearm, which ultimately struck the first female victim,” the Sheriff’s Department stated.
Luna fled the area in a Nissan Pathfinder after the shooting but was arrested a few days later after a search warrant was served at his residence.
Luna was booked on suspicion of assault with a firearm, negligent discharge of a firearm, false imprisonment and spousal abuse.
He is being held on $350,000 bail, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
