A PARK in Cardiff has been closed off following a serious sexual assault.
Every entrance to Splott Park has been cordoned off by police following an incident at around 3:25am today.
South Wales Police said the victim, a 44-year-old woman, alerted a member of the public to what had happened.
Detective Inspector Kath Barry said: “The victim is being supported by specialist police officers and enquiries are ongoing to ascertain the full circumstances of the incident.
“A scene is in place and a number of officers will be seen in area as our investigations continue.
“If you were in the vicinity of Splott Park between the hours of 2.00am and 4.00am this morning and saw anyone in the area, or if you have any other information that could assist our investigation, please contact us quoting reference number 2400316906.”
Photos show several police officers and large police vehicles are at the scene. While the park remains cordoned off, the nearby leisure centre, The Hyb, remains opened with access to its car park.
