A woman and a 10-year-old boy were rescued from a vehicle fire below an apartment building in East Hollywood early Tuesday.
The blaze was first reported at a three-story residential structure in the 600 block of North Kingsley Drive at 2:52 a.m., the Los Angeles Fire Department stated.
“Firefighters [were] on scene of several vehicles on fire in the ground-floor parking level of the building,” LAFD said. “Both residential floors of the building were evacuated due to heavy smoke coming from the parking level.”

Video from the scene obtained by KTLA shows incredibly thick black smoke coming from a first-floor window as crews used tools to break down a metal fence.
Two residents of the building, a 29-year-old woman and a 10-year-old boy, were evaluated by responding paramedics and transported to a local hospital in unknown condition.
Approximately 40 to 50 firefighters were able to extinguish the flames in 39 minutes, LAFD said, and the cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
