A woman was arrested for allegedly stealing hundreds of pieces of mail, which included stolen identification, credit and EBT cards that she used across San Bernardino County.

The suspect was identified as Rachel Sandoval, 40, of San Bernardino.

On March 10, a woman used a stolen U.S. Postal Service master key to open a community mailbox in the Rosena Ranch community of San Bernardino.

A witness saw the suspect fleeing in a 2022 white Dodge Charger and documented the license plate.

Detectives from the Fontana Sheriff’s Station confirmed the vehicle as a rental car. Through surveillance video and other evidence, detectives identified Sandoval as the suspect.

On April 16, Sandoval was located and arrested at her home. Deputies also discovered she was out of custody on bail for a separate identity theft case.

  • Photos of the suspect’s stolen ID, credit and EBT cards, along with Rachel Sandoval’s rented 2022 white Dodger Charger were released by the Fontana Sheriff’s Station.

While searching her residence, investigators found several hundred pieces of stolen mail from the San Bernardino area, the USPS master key, and a large amount of stolen identification cards, credit cards, EBT cards and Social Security cards.

A search warrant on her phone allegedly revealed hundreds of photos related to identity theft and fraud.

Sandoval had allegedly used the stolen credit cards to make purchases at stores throughout San Bernardino County.

She was booked at the West Valley Detention Center and is being held without bail.

“Investigators believe there are additional thefts and victims related to Sandoval,” the sheriff’s department said. “Detectives are releasing Sandoval’s picture and a picture of the suspect vehicle.”

Anyone who may be a victim or has additional information is encouraged to call Detective Pedersen at 909-356-6767.
