Reese, 22, who starts her second year as a forward with WNBA team the Chicago Sky in May, told Vogue her passion for basketball shares a soft spot with her affinity for fashion.
“It’s always been both: basketball and fashion,” Reese told Vogue. Her dedication to a polished look earned her the nickname “Bayou Barbie” when she played for Louisiana State University, though Reese has said she was the “Baltimore Barbie” first.

Reese told Vogue she dreams of one day walking in a fashion show, but in the meantime donned Versace, Stella McCartney, Loewe and Jacquemus among other designers for the cover and matching photo spread.
Sports Illustrated also previously featured Reese on the cover.
Reese became known for her outspoken attitude and her rivalry with fellow WNBA player Caitlin Clark, which began during a 2023 NCAA championship run between Louisiana State and the University of Iowa which brought national attention to women’s college basketball. LSU won that game; Reese scored 15 of the team’s 102 points.
That rivalry has sustained attention for the WNBA as the two have moved into the professional league. Clark and Reese were in contention for the league’s Rookie of the Year honor in 2024, which Clark eventually won. Reese previously said that she’ll accept the “bad guy role” because of the attention the publicity has given the sport.
