A Kentucky man who recently claimed a record $167.3 million Powerball jackpot was arrested in Florida just days later for allegedly kicking a sheriff’s deputy in the face.

James Farthing, 50, was taken into custody Wednesday and charged with battery on a law enforcement officer, battery, and resisting an officer without violence, according to Pinellas County jail records.

Farthing was at the Island Grand at Tradewinds on St. Pete Beach when he got into an altercation with another guest, an arrest affidavit obtained by NBC affiliate WFLA stated.

Deputies intervened, but Farthing allegedly kicked one of them in the face during the scuffle. He tried to run but was quickly apprehended and booked into jail.

Farthing, a resident of Georgetown, Kentucky, had just claimed the $167.3 million prize on Monday. He and his mother are splitting the winnings from the $2 ticket, which set a new record for the state’s Powerball jackpot.
