Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow arrived to training camp sporting a drastic new look that has captured the internet’s attention.
On July 23, the Bengals’ official X account posted photos and videos of multiple players showing off their individual styles at the team’s training camp.
While some players slightly altered their signature looks during the offseason, Burrow decided to completely switch up his usual appearance. He arrived at the training camp with a bleached blond buzz cut.
The Bengals posted a picture on X that showed Burrow flashing a peace sign as he revealed his new do.
“Guess who’s back,” the team captioned the snap, referencing Eminem, who famously sported the same blond look at the start of his career and in his “Without Me” music video.
Many X users reacted with GIFs of Eminem, aka “Slim Shady,” in the replies.
Journalist Jemele Hill reposted the post with the lyrics, “Back again … back again … Shady’s back … tell a friend.”
But it seems others thought Burrow resembled another famous face with similarly dyed locks.
Multiple users left GIFs and pictures of WWE star Cody Rhodes in the comments.
“IS THAT THE AMERICAN NIGHTMARE?!?!?” a Rhodes fan account asked, referring to one of his wrestling nicknames.
Some X users added even more celebrities into the discussion.
“Billy idol plays for the bengals?” one joked.
Another said, “Like a mix between Pete Davidson and Eminem.”
A few wondered if Burrow’s hair might be a sign for how the Bengals will play next season.
“Nobody dyes their hair this color unless they’re going through something,” one person posted. “He’s either going to be the best we’ve ever seen or an epic disaster. no in-between. that’s the rule of the blonde.”
The 2024 NFL season doesn’t officially kick off for the Bengals until Sept. 8, so fans will have to wait to see how bleached blond Burrow’s season will go.
