Characters from Universal’s hit movie “Wicked” will make their West Coast debut during the park’s inaugural Fan Fest event in April.

Elphaba and Glinda, fully adorned in familiar costumes from the film, will greet guests at the theme park’s existing vibrant Wicked-themed photo op, currently situated near the main entrance.

The Feature Presentation store will also have exclusive Wicked-inspired merchandise, such as apparel, home goods, accessories, toys, and more.

Universal Studios Hollywood to bid farewell to high-octane attraction

The debut of Wicked characters at the theme park comes after Mark Woodbury, Universal’s theme park chief, teased “secret plans” for Wicked-themed attractions.

Aside from “Wicked,” Universal’s Fan Fest event will feature themed experiences based on “Star Trek,” “Back to the Future,” “Dungeons and Dragons,” “One Piece,” and “Jujutsu Kaisen.” New experiences are also coming to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and Super Nintendo World.

Here’s what fans can expect from the event:

Slice House coming to Universal Studios Hollywood CityWalk

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter: During the event, a new light projection show designed to take guests on a whimsical journey through a school year at Hogwarts will be displayed on Hogwarts castle. Guests can also meet new magical creatures in the land, like a baby dragon and grand Occamy.

Super Nintendo World: Yoshi will be a meet-and-greet character during the event. As part of Yoshi’s debut in the land, visitors can interact with the character as they collect Yoshi eggs during a new scavenger hunt. A drone show will also illuminate the sky throughout the evening.

Star Trek: Red Alert: Inspired by the Star Trek universe, guests will be transported to the year 2403 as they board the U.S.S Enterprise NCC-1701-D while on a mission to prevent an interstellar threat. Visitors can explore the ship’s engineering room, transporter pads, and more, including the actual bridge set piece from “Star Trek: Picard.”

Back to the Future: Destination Hill Valley: Based on the 1985 “Back to the Future” movie, guests will be transported back to 1955 Hill Valley when they board the Studio Tour and head towards Courthouse Square. The experience will pay homage to the original scene; visitors can dance the night away during a recreation of the Enchantment Under the Sea dance, see the clock tower lightning strike, meet movie characters, and more.

Dungeons & Dragons: Secrets of Waterdeep: This” one-of-a-kind” experience will allow fans of the role-playing game to explore the world of D&D. Guests will join the Harpers, a spy network, to foil the plot of the legendary beholder Xanathar and save the city of Waterdeep.

One Piece: Grand Pirate Gathering: Visitors can meet Monkey D. Luffy and his Straw Hat Pirates during an immersive and interactive experience.

Themed foods and merchandise will also be available.

Tickets to the event can be purchased here.

The event will take place on the following days:

  • April 25-27
  • May 2-4, 9-11 and 15-18
