Whoopi Goldberg questioned The View producer Brian Teta as to why they must continue reading Donald Trump’s statement about the 2020 election.
During the ABC talk show’s live broadcast on Wednesday, October 2, Goldberg asked why they have to continue reading Trump’s legal notes despite having proof that discredits the statement.
As one of the show’s blocks was ending, someone off camera signaled to Goldberg that Sunny Hostin had to read a legal note from Trump’s camp.
“I now have a legal note,” Hostin said before reading, “Donald Trump has denied any wrongdoing related to the 2020 election.”
The show’s theme song started playing and Goldberg added, “I find that so interesting.”
“We have to do these legal notes each time to say what has been proven to be a fact,” Goldberg said, directing her words at Teta. “We have to deny it on their behalf. Is that right?”
Teta replied, “We have to state the denials that they’ve stated.”
“One day you’ll tell me why,” Goldberg told Teta, to which he noted, “I think I’ve told you a couple of times but we can talk about it again.”
Goldberg then said, “I find it odd when everybody has seen it, and they know that it’s not necessarily the truth.”
Teta clarified that they’re “showing what [Trump’s team] has said on the record” about the 2020 election.
Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin interjected and said, “We can do it off-air, guys.”
Teta reminded Goldberg, “We’re out of time, the music is playing.”
“Alright, well, we’ll be back,” Goldberg said, throwing to the commercial break.
