GRAHAM Green launched a terrifying burglary on a house in Scunthorpe, where he and his accomplices looted the home while armed with knives.
His sinister scheme is examined in the Channel 5 series Police Suspect No.1, which follows authorities in their manhunt for Green.
Green’s horrifying crime
Police first became aware of the situation when they received a chilling phone call from a property in Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire.
The man on the other end of the call said that there were people in his house, “smashing” everything in sight.
He then fell silent.
As police raced to the location after tracing the call, they received a second call from the same property.
The voice said that the attackers had knives and begged for help.
Although the attackers had fled by the time that the police arrived, an investigation was launched to catch the criminals.
The hunt for Green
CCTV footage revealed that there were five burglars in total, as the police made a surprising discovery which opened up the case.
A vape was found on the property, which did not belong to the homeowners.
DNA testing revealed that the vape belonged to Graham Green – a County Durham resident who had previous charges of GBH, burglary, theft and criminal damage.
Police launched a manhunt to find Green, which ultimately ended in his arrest.
Green refused to admit to his crime until police revealed that they had discovered his vape.
When asked why he robbed the home, he simply answered “temptation”.
He refused to provide any more details about his accomplices, insisting “I cannot give any of them up, I cannot, because they’ll know it was me”.
No other suspects were caught for the terrifying robbery and no true motive was discovered.
Green pleaded guilty to aggravated burglary and was sentenced to 9 years and eight months in jail.
