WHITE OAK, Md. (DC News Now) — A hospital is expanding to help care for more patients in Prince George’s and Montgomery counties.
On Thursday the Adventist Healthcare Medical Center will open a new unit on the eighth floor that will feature 30 new beds.
“We want to be in the best position to provide care,” Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President Mabel Ankrah said.
The new $25 million edition will help provide better care for Ankrah’s patients.
“We want to make sure that when the community seeks care at our door that we have a place for them to lay their head and a place for our nurses to do their best work,” Ankrah said. “This means opening these new 30 beds will allow us to do that.”
The new 20,000-square-foot unit will allow for 10 new beds for medical surgical patients and 20 for observation patients.
The hospital is planning a soft opening celebration on Thursday.
