WASHINGTON (NewsNation) — As Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer, N.Y., and President Donald Trump move toward a deal to separate Department of Homeland Security funding from other House-passed appropriations bills, a partial government shutdown looms over the weekend.

Unlike last fall’s total government shutdown, which lasted 43 days, a partial government shutdown would see fewer institutions shuttered.

Would airports close?

While U.S. airports will remain open and flights will continue during a partial government shutdown, many workers could be forced to work without pay once again.

Will national parks be open?

Yes. The nation’s national parks will remain open since the Department of the Interior was fully funded through Sept. 30 during the last shutdown.

Will Social Security payments still go out?

Yes. Social Security payments to senior citizens, people with disabilities and other Americans will not be interrupted, according to the agency.
