Jillian Lauren Shriner, the woman booked for attempted murder after being shot by police searching for hit-and-run suspects in Los Angeles Tuesday had reportedly fired at officers during a standoff.

Shriner, a best-selling author and the wife of Weezer bassist Scott Shriner, got mixed up in the incident after a suspect fleeing a hit-and-run on the 134 Freeway fled on foot into the Eagle Rock neighborhood.

While police were searching backyards for that suspect in the area of Eagle Vista Drive and Waldo Place, police said Shriner emerged from her home next door armed with a gun.

Police said Shriner, 51, refused multiple orders to drop the firearm and instead pointed it at officers and opened fire, Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson Jennifer Forkish told the Los Angeles Times in a statement.

Shriner was struck by gunfire from the officers and retreated into her house before eventually exiting the property and being taken into custody.

She was taken to a local hospital to be treated for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and later booked on suspicion of attempted murder of a peace officer. A 9-mm handgun was recovered from her residence.

The hit-and-run suspect being pursued by officers was found and taken into custody that same afternoon. Two other suspects involved in the crash were not found.

Bassist Scott Shriner has recorded 12 studio albums since joining Weezer in 2001. The band is scheduled to perform at Coachella this year.
