ARLINGTON, Va. (DC News Now) — A woman was rescued after a car plunged into the Potomac River Tuesday evening.
DC Fire and EMS said the car went into the river and was submerged near the shoreline, between 14th Street and the Arlington Memorial Bridge.
There was a one-car crash on the George Washington Memorial Parkway causing the car to go into the water, according to the U.S. Park Police (USPP).
The woman was clinging to the car before USPP helped the woman to shore with a throw bag.
She was then taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Divers with the Metropolitan Police Department said no one else was in the car.
