President Biden on Monday will mark the 34th anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) with an event at the White House.
The ADA seeks to include individuals with disabilities in all aspects of public life, from social connections to political engagement to career development.
Biden will also celebrate Disability Pride Month, which seeks to showcase contributions being made by individuals with disabilities.
This year’s observances are later in the year than usual, with the celebrations hstorically taking place in July, the month of the act’s original signing. Biden signed a proclamation in July marking the anniversary of the landmark civil rights law.
The event is slated to begin at 5 p.m. EDT.
