LANDOVER, Md. (DC News Now) — Washington Commanders fans are feeling the hype heading into next Sunday’s NFC Championship Game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
The team took down the Detroit Lions over the weekend to seal their fate and second postseason win, now just one game away from the Super Bowl.
“He’s probably about to make history soon. It’s one game at a time, if they take this game next week then we’re headed for the Super Bowl,” said Henry Jefferson, talking about the team’s rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, who has been a huge part of the team’s recent success.
The Commanders haven’t been to the NFC Championship game since their last Super Bowl run in 1991, and fans who talked to DC News Now outside Northwest Stadium on this “Victory Monday” were really feeling the excitement.
“I’m feeling like we’re going to win,” said Commanders fan Abdus Ali. “I can believe it. I’m a diehard Commanders fan. I’ve been with the team 20 years, longer than that.”
“You’ve gotta go out there and put in the work daily. Get better each and every day. Put your head down and grind and by the end of the season, you’ll look up and you might be in a position like this,” QB Daniels said during a postgame press conference in Detroit Saturday night.
For fans in the DMV looking to make the short trip up the road to Philadelphia this weekend, tickets to the NFC Championship game start around $500-$600, ranging up to several thousand dollars each.
